A Fragmented Descent. A Fierce Return.
What happens in the silence between headlines? In the sterile cells and under flickering lights? Caged Echoes captures the raw, unfiltered voice of a woman unraveling—and slowly, quietly, reclaiming herself.
Told in vignettes, visual poetry, and emotional fragments, this diary charts my arrest, the chaos that followed, and the soulwork that began in the margins. Each page is a whisper from that liminal space—between shame and healing, between who I was and who I would become.
These are the echoes that never stopped reverberating—until I wrote them down.
This is not a polished story.
This is the truth.
From the Author
This project had no plan.
No outline. No chapters. No structure.
It was just rawness—oozing out like something long buried, finally brave enough to surface.
There are nights I still hear her—the broken version of me—curled up on a cold concrete floor, naked and alone. So, so alone. The world had turned away. And I almost did too.
But I couldn’t leave her behind.
I wrote Caged Echoes for her.
To say:
You made it.
You’re not forgotten.
You are still me. And you are still here.
So I closed my eyes, returned to those sterile rooms and shadowed corridors, and let the words flow.
This is her voice.
This is our survival.

Dear Toby,
I love your extraordinary creation of you and your life! Thank you for sending me this copy… I love every part of this book and the layout of crumbled pages, with inserts of profound messages, and your timeline in all the prisons make a remarkable structure to your journey here. You have done a beautiful job. Your comment at the end of your “Yes” being because it has made you now into the woman you love…is a profound message for all of us. You are making your life a “creative expression” extraordinaire… and anyone can learn fierce and exciting wisdom from this…not to mention hope and inspiration. I’m finding my way creating who I am at this wonderful age of 75. I wonder what 85 will be. It starts with today. Love and big hugs to you Toby, for Being and Doing all that you are. So happy for you getting this out there.
This isn’t a book you read—it’s one you feel in your bones. Each page of Caged Echoes is laced with blood, dust, and truth. Toby doesn’t filter a thing—and that’s the power of it. She takes you into the cell, the silence, the ache, and somehow manages to crack open hope right there in the middle of the wreckage. I didn’t know I needed this book until I held it in my hands.
Caged Echoes is a symphony of the soul’s darkest nights. It’s jagged and ink-stained, not polished or packaged. And that’s what makes it breathtaking. These aren’t just words—they’re echoes of a woman who refused to disappear. You don’t read this book to be entertained. You read it to remember that healing has texture, and grief has a voice.
