May 25, 2022 Sick and Wrong Podcast interviews author Toby Dorr who helped inmate and lover John Manard escape from a Kansas prison in a dog crate.
Much like the tragic story of Vicki White and convicted murderer Casey White, Toby Dorr helped John Manard escape from custody on February 12, 2006, hiding in a dog crate, and the two lived together in a cabin for 12 days until their capture and arrest in Tennessee. Married mother of two, Toby Dorr (Young at the time) was running a dog program at a Kansas prison when she met inmate John Manard through the dog program and love blossomed between the two, She would eventually spend 27 months in prison for her crime, but she decided to put her time into helping others who felt so desperate to escape the trauma in their lives, that they would do anything. She joins us on this podcast to discuss how she was manipulated, fell in love, and eventually made the decision to help a convicted murderer escape from prison. I have lost friends and co-workers to staff manipulation many times over my career. With Toby's help maybe we can get some insight into how this pattern of behavior can be stopped before it's too late.
